The Empire Invades in New Klingon-Themed Updates to STAR TREK ONLINE and STAR TREK ADVENTURES Games

In a pair of new, big updates to the two biggest Star Trek gaming platforms, the Klingon Empire is set to take over this summer as both Star Trek Online and Star Trek Adventures each welcome the warrior race.

In the newest expansion to the long-running Star Trek Online, “House Divided,” actor J.G. Hertzler returns as Martok from Deep Space Nine — along with Robert O’Reilly as Gowron from both The Next Generation and DS9 —  in a story that combines elements from the Star Trek: Discovery era with the 24th Century Klingon Empire.

After accidentally sending herself and players through time with stolen Federation technology, J’Ula, sister of T’Kuvma (Discovery), finds herself at war as the modern Klingon Empire has done the unthinkable and allied themselves with the Federation. J’Ula and her lieutenant Aakar (Grandfather of Gowron) have taken it upon themselves to right this wrong, and call their true Klingon brethren to arms. It’s now up to the player to quell this rebellion alongside Martok (Deep Space Nine) and maintain the newly founded peace within the Federation.

This new epic war story brings two new playable episodes to Star Trek Online that all Star Trek fans are bound to enjoy. In addition, the new update includes a new month-long House Divided event for players to participate in to receive the Red Angel suit/armor, a 5-person space TFO over the Klingon Penal Colony of Rura Penthe, along with a new Angel’s Wake Lockbox — which contains the Ba’ul ship seen in the Star Trek: Discovery episode “The Sound of Thunder,” and Ba’ul Obelisk from Season 2 of Discovery.

The Red Angel suit from Discovery Season 2 also arrives for in-game use this month, a powerful reward that offers players a number of tactical moves to use against enemies.

The Time Crystals necessary to travel far through time weren’t possible to recreate, but the suit itself was. Powerful and versatile, it functions as standard combat armor until its special properties are needed. These properties, referred to as Red Angel Mode, can only be used for a short while before the systems must recharge.

All the in-game powers of the Red Angel suit — both defensive and offensive — are broken down in this feature piece at the official Star Trek Online blog.

Meanwhile, tabletop game Star Trek Adventures is also branching out into the world of the warrior with its new Star Trek Adventures: The Klingon Empire Core Rulebook, the latest addition to the role-playing series.

A new 390-page hardcover rulebook — complete with now-expected wonderful artwork adorning many of its pages — covers the entire history of Star Trek’s time with the Klingons, from the earliest clashes with humanity in Enterprise through the 24th century Dominion War era and beyond.

THE KLINGON EMPIRE core rulebook for the Star Trek Adventures roleplaying game takes you to the Final Frontier of the Galaxy, where new worlds and new civilizations await bold Klingon warriors hungry for glory and honor. Your duties may take you to the edges of known space, to Klingon colonies in need, to the borders of neighboring galactic powers, or into the eye of interstellar phenomena. Your warship and crew represent the best-trained and most honorable of Klingon warriors, and your cunning and abilities are needed now more than ever.

A new threat looms from across the Gamma Quadrant, representing a worthy opponent for the worlds of the Alpha and Beta Quadrants. Tensions are high and it remains to be seen how the Klingon Empire will get involved. It is a volatile time for the Empire as her brave warriors and bold crews ready for battle against whatever foes present themselves.

Here’s a preview of the always-lovely artwork that adorns the pages of The Klingon Empire Core Rulebook:

Available for purchase now for $56 USD / £45 GBP, the hardcover edition is expected to ship to players this Fall.
