It’s a big week for Star Trek drinkware replicas — after CherryTree debuted their Deep Space Nine Replimat mug recreation — because Master Replicas is back with another throwback to the very earliest days of the franchise!
Following the company’s revival of the Next Gen Bodum teacups earlier this year, Master Replicas today has announced that they will be recreating the grey coffee cups seen in the Original Series, complete with the first USS Enterprise logo which originated in “The Cage.”
Master Replicas’ new earthenware mug replica is a more durable take on the painted-grey Styrofoam cups used on the Original Series sets, perhaps most notably seen in “The Trouble With Tribbles” where Captain Kirk receives his lunch with a Tribble in his cup — and of course the company is including a Tribble with this mug if you’d like to recreate that well-known moment.

The USS Enterprise logo printed on the exterior first appeared on Dr. Boyce’s medical wrap in “The Cage,” and later appeared on clipboards in the briefing room as well as on grey cups in “Where No Man Has Gone Before” — seen clearly when Gary Mitchell uses his telekinesis powers to float a drink to his sickbay bed.
The Master Replicas team researched in Gene Roddenberry’s archived files, housed at the UCLA library, to find the graphic for use in this replica.

The new Star Trek Original Series mug replica is available for preorder at the Master Replicas website now for $26.99 / £24.99, with shipment expected this May.
