STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS Renewed for Fifth and Final Six-Episode Season; Season 3 Hits SkyShowtime on August 4

We’re just over a month away from Star Trek: Strange New Worlds‘ long-awaited return on July 17 — but even though there’s still quite a bit of adventure ahead, we now know when Captain Pike’s time aboard the USS Enterprise will come to an end.

Paramount+ this morning has announced that Strange New Worlds will officially conclude with a fifth and final season, which will head into development after work on the currently-filming Season 4 is finished later this year. In addition, the streamer has confirmed that the show’s final year will consist of just six episodes — a reduction from the 10-episode orders for Seasons 1-4.

Additionally, SkyShowtime yesterday confirmed that Strange New Worlds Season 3 will make its European debut on August 4, about two weeks after its North American return.

The official word on the Season 5 ending:

Paramount+ today announced that the fan-favorite original series STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS has been renewed for a fifth and final six-episode season ahead of the third season premiere this summer. Production will begin on the final season later this year.

Here’s what the show’s leadership had to say about today’s announcement:

“From the very beginning, STRANGE NEW WORLDS set out to honor what STAR TREK has always stood for — boundless curiosity, hope and the belief that a better future is possible,” said executive producers Akiva Goldsman, Henry Alonso Myers and Alex Kurtzman.

“We’re deeply grateful to Paramount+ for the chance to complete our five-season mission, just as we envisioned it, alongside our extraordinary cast and crew. And to the passionate fans who’ve boldly joined us on this journey — THANK YOU. With three more spectacular seasons ahead for you to see and enjoy, this adventure is far from over.”

The STRANGE NEW WORLDS crew. (Paramount+)

As that statement highlights, today’s news doesn’t mean that the Strange New Worlds crew will be going away anytime soon — with Season 3 still ahead of us, Season 4 in production, and Season 5 not even written yet, it’s likely that we’ll be following the adventures of Captain Pike’s Enterprise for at least the next two years.

And unlike the surprise cancellation that ended Star Trek: Discovery after its final season was nearly complete, the advance notice about Strange New Worlds’ end will give the show’s writing and production team plenty of notice to prepare the series for a proper conclusion.

The impending end of Strange New Worlds does signal yet again that the days of 30+ straight weeks of Trek episodes are well in the rearview mirror — especially after the end of Star Trek: Picard in 2023, the conclusions of Star Trek: Discovery, Prodigy, and Lower Decks in 2024, followed by the wrap of The Ready Room with Wil Wheaton in December, and the five-year-wait for the awful Section 31 movie that finally arrived in January.

The cast and producers of STARFLEET ACADEMY. (Paramount+)

We’ve also got at least two seasons of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy on the 2026-2027 calendar. (The first season will debut early next year, with Season 2 expected to go back into production later in 2025.)

At minimum, there’s still another 46 episodes of Trek in the Paramount+ queue:

  • Strange New Worlds Season 3 — 10 episodes (2025)
  • Starfleet Academy Season 1 — 10 episodes (2026)
  • Strange New Worlds Season 4 — 10 episodes (2026)
  • Starfleet Academy Season 2 — 10 episodes (likely 2026)
  • Strange New Worlds Season 5 — 6 episodes (likely 2027)

There are also additional Trek projects in development, like Justin Simien and Tawny Newsome’s untitled comedy, but that has yet to be officially green-lit for production as of this writing. Any new Trek announcements are likely on hold pending the outcome of the proposed Paramount-Skydance corporate merger.

EXO-6 Revisits “The Cage,” Master Replicas’ Next Action Figures (and a Talking Moopsy!), and Much More STAR TREK Merch News!

We’re back this Tuesday evening with another look at the latest in Star Trek collectibles news, stretching from the start of the franchise to the latest iterations!

One-sixth-scale action figure company EXO-6 is taking its second trip back to the original Star Trek pilot “The Cage” with their new Captain Pike figure, based upon the Enterprise captain portrayed by Jeffrey Hunter in that 1964 production.

Like their “The Cage” Spock released earlier this year, this version of Pike comes with the distinctive landing party jacket, translucent communicator, and era-appropriate laser pistol, and under-jacket harness.

Preorder on this Pike figure runs through June 30, and is expected to ship in the last quarter of the year; the 12-inch figure retails for $225 USD — American customers will also see a tariff surcharge of $14.50 (if still applicable at time of shipment).

Master Replicas kicks off June with a trio of new modern-era Trek collectibles, starting with their second-generation, talking Moopsy plush. This time, the company has added a sound chip to the menacing little Lower Decks monster — the larger, 14-inch Moopsy plays the cheerful “Moopsy!” sound when the stuffed animal’s front paw is pressed.

The new talking Moospy is up for preorder now (shipping in August), at a cost of $34.99.

Master Replicas has also opened preorders for the third pair of Kurtzman-era action figures — slightly delayed due to the recent tariff mess — as Lower Decks‘ Brad Boimler and Star Trek: Picard‘s Captain Will Riker expand the growing 4.5-inch lineup.

These figures retail at $25.99 each, each expected to ship in the third quarter of 2025.

We’ve already got a few looks at Fanhome’s next four Official Starship Collection ships — June’s Titan, July’s Enterprise-G, August’s Excelsior II, and September’s Dauntless — but the company showed its first images of the subsequent two ships on Instagram this week.

Featuring digital renders, Fanhome teased the USS Archer (from the Star Trek: Strange New Worlds pilot) and the Lamarr-class Voyager-A (from Star Trek: Prodigy), expected in October and November.

There are no details on story or character focus yet, but longtime Star Trek novelist Dayton Ward will be returning to the final frontier in a new hardcover next year.

Listed for release on February 17, Ward’s next Trek tale will be Star Trek: Picard — To Defy Fate. The book can be preordered now for $29 (or for $14.99 on Kindle).

WizKids’ strategy card game Star Trek: Captain’s Chair which debuted last fall — is growing, with two new expansions announced today.

The first is Star Trek: Captain’s Chair — To Boldly Go, a fully standalone game which adds additional captains from modern-era shows like Star Trek: DiscoveryStar Trek: Lower Decks, and more.

In STAR TREK™: CAPTAIN’S CHAIR, you will go head-to-head with an opponent, each stepping into the shoes of an iconic leader from across Star Trek™’s galaxy and history. Command ships, crew, and away teams, while you manage resources and alliances!

STAR TREK™: CAPTAIN’S CHAIR – TO BOLDLY GO is a new, fully standalone game with all the cards and components you need! In addition to Kirk and Khan, you can now play as Philippa Georgiou from Star Trek™: Discovery, Rebner, the Pakled Commander from Star Trek™: Lower Decks, and more!

Each of the six captains come with their own unique, asymmetric deck of cards that matches that leader’s personality, abilities, allies, and assets. These decks can be expanded with cards available to both players, representing the people, items, planets, and events that characters ecounter in iconic storylines. Each deck creates different strategic directions, based on what common cards are available, and what strategy your opponent deploys.

Star Trek: Captain’s Chair — To Boldly Go ships in Q4 2025 and preorders for $59.99.

The second expansion is Star Trek: Captain’s Chair — Second Contact, an add-on pack which requires either the original game or To Boldly Go as a base. Second Contact adds several entirely new components to the game, including Captain Carol Freeman, the USS Cerritos, Captain Pike from Strange New Worlds, his USS Enterprise, and more.

Play as Carol Freeman, Captain of the U.S.S. Cerritos, Christopher Pike, captain of the U.S.S. Enterprise, and more! You can also add Krulmuth-B as a starting location, opening a portal that crosses space and time!

In Star Trek™: Captain’s Chair, you will go head-to head with an opponent, each stepping into the shoes of an iconic leader from across Star Trek™’s galaxy and history. Command ships, crew, and away teams, while you manage resources and alliances.

Review — Fanhome’s Latest STAR TREK Starships: Beverly Crusher’s ELEOS, and SHRIKE, and the XL-Sized ENTERPRISE-F

It’s been a few months since we checked in on the revived Official Star Trek Starships Collection, but since March the gang at Fanhome have kept the model spacecraft line going with three new releases: the Enterprise-F, the Eleos, and the Shrike warship, all from Star Trek: Picard’s third season.

The Shrike, Enterprise-F, and Eleos XII. (TrekCore.com)

First up is the inaugural XL-sized ship in Fanhome’s collection, the Odyssey-class USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-F) — the fourth version of this ship released over the last few years.

Eaglemoss released the first editions back in 2019, with two variants (one with Star Trek Online markings, the other using standard Federation livery), followed by a Star Trek Online ‘refit’ edition in 2021. Fanhome’s new XL-sized Enterprise-F is based upon the ship’s appearance in Star Trek: Picard Season 3, from a fully-overhauled digital model by Thomas Marrone.

The Enterprise-F is full of detail, something easy to include in its whopping 11″ size. From its distinctive dark markings to spots of orange, red, purple, and blue around the hull, it’s got more coloring than most Starfleet ships — and the unique Federation logo above its name and registry is another notable standout.

The Odyssey class design also has two distinctive physical design elements: the gap between primary and secondary hulls, and the curved, teardrop-esque warp nacelles. This is the best version of the Enterprise-F released yet, and the nacelles are a big part of why this model is a heck of a step up from the three previous editions (seen in the gallery below) — Marrone’s digital upgrade certainly helped a great deal.

While currently sold out, upon restock at Fanhome’s website the Enterprise-F is sold for individual purchase at $95.

Beverly Crusher’s medical ship, the SS Eleos XII (NAR-59019), is classified as a Phoenix-class starship, and features incredibly distinctive coloring: a dull golden hull with wide blue stripes.

The Eleos was meant to be a retired, old-design Starfleet ship, originating from a John Eaves design first conceived in the earliest days of production on Star Trek Online (then called the USS Phoenix). Through a series of modifications, including adding the blue striping (to represent medical services) and the crossbeam between its warp nacelles, the Eleos finally earned the seal of approval for use in Picard Season 3.

The 8″ model is just packed with texture, from the angular beams around the central bridge dome to the ridges and valleys around the outer hull curves, both on the dorsal and ventral surfaces of the ship. The Eleos is one of the more complex Federation starship designs in the Trek pantheon, and the Fanhome model’s intricate composition serves that design well.

The Eleos is available for individual purchase for $65 at Fanhome’s website.

Vadic’s deadly Shrike warship is the most recent Fanhome release, arriving to most early subscribers just this past month. Its spikey, organic shape represents the angry, dangerous Changeling leader’s mindset in Picard Season 3, and formed through a collaboration between numerous designers over the course of several months.

The 8″ model is quite heavy, thanks to its die-cast metal central core; all of the Shrike’s spiked appendages are rendered in molded in plastic, including the underslung weapons pod which is home to the ship’s unique portal weapon.

Its weight gives it a slight amount of trouble staying in the plastic display stand, but left along on a shelf it probably won’t fall out on its own without a nudge.

The Shrike is available for individual purchase for $65 at Fanhome’s website.

Fanhome’s Official Star Trek Starships Collection still has plenty of new models on the way, with the Luna-class USS Titan, the XL-sized Enterprise-G, the Excelsior from Picard Season 2, and the USS Dauntless from Star Trek: Prodigy’s first season coming over the next few months.

You can learn more about Fanhome’s Official Star Trek Starship Collection, sign up for subscriptions, or preorder single releases at their official website.

One-sixth Star Trek action figure company EXO-6 has announced an impending end to their US-customer stop-shipment policy, first enacted in late April. In an email to collectors sent out on May 27, the company shared that next month tariff fees to US-based customers will begin.

EXO-6 will resume shipping to the United States with our next release – “The Cage” Spock 1/6 figure. This should be invoicing and shipping before the end of June.

Due to the recent tariffs imposed by the United States, we will be implementing a Tariff Surcharge Fee of $14.50 per figure for any figures sent to US addresses. This is on top of the current retail price and shipping.

This fee will help us offset the increased costs resulting from these tariffs. Please note that this surcharge is subject to change if there are any adjustments to the tariff rates in the future. Shipping will take longer to reach US addresses now too, we ask for your patience as we test these new shipping methods.

We understand that changes in pricing can be challenging, and we are committed to maintaining the high-quality standards you expect from EXO-6. We appreciate your understanding and support as we navigate these changes.

On Facebook, the company elaborated:

At least until mid-August, the tariff rate [to the United States] on imported goods from China is 30% for anything imported via ocean freight. However the rate for things coming in by post is 54%.

We at EXO-6 have explored all our options and have settled on the best option for getting our customers our product in the most effective way possible. We are trying to navigate these uncertain times as best we could.

*   *   *

The Wand Company also took some time to address the tariff issue for US customers this month, with an update sent to newsletter subscribers on May 13. In the message, TWC shared that a plan to transfer inventory to the United States was underway — but with a cost increase to the end product, up from the original $350 announced in March.

What does the reduced tariff on bulk imports mean to me?

If you live in the US, quite a lot. The 145% tariff on goods manufactured in China imported to the US has been temporarily reduced to 30%. This means we can start shipping in bulk to the US immediately and, as soon as we are able, make the product available to our US customers through Amazon US.

If I live in the US, can I still buy the Tricorder from Amazon UK?

No, at the moment none of our products are available for US customers from our Amazon UK listing. While the de minimis tariffs for shipments under $800 in value has reduced to 54%, Amazon UK has currently paused shipments to the US. Due to the fact that it will not be possible for Amazon UK to ship our products to the US, when we send out our next “invite to purchase” email, we will not be sending it out to any of our US customers.

I live in the US – when will I be able to get my Tricorder?

The reduced bulk tariffs come into force tomorrow. As you can imagine, companies worldwide have had their shipments on hold since the tariffs were increased and are now all going to want to ship to the US at the same time. We will do our best to start airfreighting Tricorders to the US as soon as possible. Once they arrive there will be a wait while the stock is loaded into Amazon US.

I live in the US – will I actually ever be able to buy a Tricorder?

YES. We will be diverting the next few shipments to the US and we believe that there will be enough Tricorders for everyone that wants one to buy one. All our customers are important to us and we are doing our best to ensure that everyone gets their chance to purchase a Tricorder at the best price we can offer.

With the reduced tariff how much will my Tricorder cost?

The margins we have on the Tricorder manufacture are already thin and so we are not able to absorb the entire cost of the 30% tariff. As a result the cost of the Tricorders in the US will rise to $415.

Outside of the US, collectors will still be able to purchase through Amazon UK when The Wand Company has their next round of inventory available — for the original £270 price (plus any applicable taxes, shipping, or relevant import duties).

VIDEO & PHOTOS — Our Visit to the STAR TREK: RED ALERT! Enterprise-D Experience at Universal Studios Hollywood

Last night marked the end of Universal Fan Fest Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood, and the final chance (as far as we know) for fans to visit the Enterprise-D bridge set, originally constructed for Star Trek: Picard Season 3.

The Universal Studios team constructed a whole Galaxy-class walkthrough for the Star Trek: Red Alert! experience at Fan Fest Nights, leading visitors through the Enterprise-D on display at the Starfleet Museum space station (just as the ship was left at the conclusion of Picard).

We captured the walkthrough experience on video for posterity, so those of you who didn’t get a chance to visit Los Angeles can see what fans experienced over the past four weekends.

The Enterprise cargo bay, sickbay, and engineering decks are complete recreations, of course, while the bridge is made of many parts of the original Picard filming set. The command chairs and stations, Conn and Ops chairs and stations, and aft bridge stations are all Picard originals, as are most of the surrounding walls.

To meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements, however, the grading on the side floor ramps were lowered — which meant a new replica tactical horseshow needed to be built to fit the new floor geometry. The handrails on the sides of the bridge, as well as in some of the corridors, are also ADA-required additions for this public exhibit.

Here are just a few of our photos from the Red Alert! experience:

You can see our complete photo collection from the Star Trek: Red Alert! experience in our Star Trek: Picard image gallery, where we’ve got over 100 shots from the Enterprise-D walkthrough.

A special thanks to reader Uli for sharing some additional imagery which captured a few things we missed in our in-person visit!

STAR TREK: PRODIGY Creators Confirm Series is Leaving Netflix, Future Streaming Availability Uncertain

Just when you thought the dust had finally settled on Star Trek: Prodigy, there’s somehow more bad news for the beleaguered animated series — as we learned this week that its time at Netflix is coming to an end.

In case you’ve forgotten Prodigy’s challenges, the series was unexpectedly cancelled and removed from Paramount+ back in June 2023, and spent six months in limbo until it found a new home at Netflix on December 2023; the complete second season of Prodigy then debuted on Netflix in July 2024 in a single-day drop.

Earlier this week, streaming news blog What’s On Netflix reported that the series was scheduled to leave Netflix’s service as soon as next month. On May 14, Prodigy creators Kevin and Dan Hageman confirmed the show’s departure on social media: Season 1 will leave Netflix on June 24, and Season 2 will leave on December 31.

While Prodigy thankfully remains available on Blu-ray, DVD, and on for-purchase digital sources like AppleTV+ and Fandango at Home, in truth the only way the show will every truly find additional viewership is through convenient streaming availability.

Meanwhile, the tacit assumption that Prodigy has officially concluded its run seems to be accurate, as Paramount Global Content Distribution refers to Season 2 as the show’s “Final Season” in its publicity material.

Note the ‘Final Season’ phrasing in the top-right corner. (Image: Paramount Global Content Distribution)

CBS Studios has not yet responded to a request for comment, and no other streamer expressed public interest in obtaining rights to the series (as of this writing). Even if a new home for Prodigy has been lined up, however, that news would likely not be announced until the end of Netflix’s tenure.

In the meantime, we recommend you pick up a copy of the series on Blu-ray (Season 1, Pt. 1 · Season 1, Pt. 2 · Season 2) and preserve Star Trek: Prodigy in your personal collection.
