It’s been a long two years since Captain Pike and the crew of the starship Enterprise last graced television screens — “Hegemony” aired back in August 2023! — but your patience will be finally rewarded this summer when Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3 returns to Paramount+ on Thursday, July 17.
The two-episode Strange New Worlds premiere night kicks off with the long-awaited resolution to the Season 2 cliffhanger, and begins nine weeks of new episodes leading up to the Season 3 finale on September 11.
Here’s some fantastic new key art for Strange New Worlds Season 3, joining the series of striking character portraits released back in March.
Paramount+ describes Season 3:
In Season 3, when we reconnect with the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise, still under the command of Captain Pike, they face the conclusion of season two’s harrowing encounter with the Gorn. But new life and civilizations await, including a villain that will test our characters’ grit and resolve.
An exciting twist on classic Star Trek, Season 3 takes characters both new and beloved to new heights, and dives into thrilling adventures of faith, duty, romance, comedy, and mystery, with varying genres never before seen on any other Star Trek.
And in case you’ve missed them, here are two clips from the upcoming season, as well as the Season 3 teaser trailer released last month.
The long delay between Seasons 2 and 3 are largely a result of the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes in 2023, which delayed production on the series; Season 3 completed filming just under a year ago in May 2024.
The wait for Season 4 should be significantly shorter, of course, as the cast and crew are already hard at work producing the next round of episodes in Toronto.
