Review — Fanhome’s Latest STAR TREK Starships: Beverly Crusher’s ELEOS, and SHRIKE, and the XL-Sized ENTERPRISE-F

It’s been a few months since we checked in on the revived Official Star Trek Starships Collection, but since March the gang at Fanhome have kept the model spacecraft line going with three new releases: the Enterprise-F, the Eleos, and the Shrike warship, all from Star Trek: Picard’s third season.

First up is the inaugural XL-sized ship in Fanhome’s collection, the Odyssey-class USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-F) — the fourth version of this ship released over the last few years.

Eaglemoss released the first editions back in 2019, with two variants (one with Star Trek Online markings, the other using standard Federation livery), followed by a Star Trek Online ‘refit’ edition in 2021. Fanhome’s new XL-sized Enterprise-F is based upon the ship’s appearance in Star Trek: Picard Season 3, from a fully-overhauled digital model by Thomas Marrone.

The Enterprise-F is full of detail, something easy to include in its whopping 11″ size. From its distinctive dark markings to spots of orange, red, purple, and blue around the hull, it’s got more coloring than most Starfleet ships — and the unique Federation logo above its name and registry is another notable standout.

The Odyssey class design also has two distinctive physical design elements: the gap between primary and secondary hulls, and the curved, teardrop-esque warp nacelles. This is the best version of the Enterprise-F released yet, and the nacelles are a big part of why this model is a heck of a step up from the three previous editions (seen in the gallery below) — Marrone’s digital upgrade certainly helped a great deal.

While currently sold out, upon restock at Fanhome’s website the Enterprise-F is sold for individual purchase at $95.

Beverly Crusher’s medical ship, the SS Eleos XII (NAR-59019), is classified as a Phoenix-class starship, and features incredibly distinctive coloring: a dull golden hull with wide blue stripes.

The Eleos was meant to be a retired, old-design Starfleet ship, originating from a John Eaves design first conceived in the earliest days of production on Star Trek Online (then called the USS Phoenix). Through a series of modifications, including adding the blue striping (to represent medical services) and the crossbeam between its warp nacelles, the Eleos finally earned the seal of approval for use in Picard Season 3.

The 8″ model is just packed with texture, from the angular beams around the central bridge dome to the ridges and valleys around the outer hull curves, both on the dorsal and ventral surfaces of the ship. The Eleos is one of the more complex Federation starship designs in the Trek pantheon, and the Fanhome model’s intricate composition serves that design well.

The Eleos is available for individual purchase for $65 at Fanhome’s website.

Vadic’s deadly Shrike warship is the most recent Fanhome release, arriving to most early subscribers just this past month. Its spikey, organic shape represents the angry, dangerous Changeling leader’s mindset in Picard Season 3, and formed through a collaboration between numerous designers over the course of several months.

The 8″ model is quite heavy, thanks to its die-cast metal central core; all of the Shrike’s spiked appendages are rendered in molded in plastic, including the underslung weapons pod which is home to the ship’s unique portal weapon.

Its weight gives it a slight amount of trouble staying in the plastic display stand, but left along on a shelf it probably won’t fall out on its own without a nudge.

The Shrike is available for individual purchase for $65 at Fanhome’s website.

Fanhome’s Official Star Trek Starships Collection still has plenty of new models on the way, with the Luna-class USS Titan, the XL-sized Enterprise-G, the Excelsior from Picard Season 2, and the USS Dauntless from Star Trek: Prodigy’s first season coming over the next few months.

You can learn more about Fanhome’s Official Star Trek Starship Collection, sign up for subscriptions, or preorder single releases at their official website.
