Fans are still going to have to wait a bit for it to arrive, but today Paramount+ has released the first teaser trailer for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3!
The new teaser trailer is the third video preview for the show’s long-awaited return, but this time we are getting our first glimpses into the many genre-defying episodes that are set to make Season 3’s ten-episode run the most varied to date.
In Season 3, when we reconnect with the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise, still under the command of Captain Pike, they face the conclusion of season two’s harrowing encounter with the Gorn. But new life and civilizations await, including a villain that will test our characters’ grit and resolve.
An exciting twist on classic Star Trek, Season 3 takes characters both new and beloved to new heights, and dives into thrilling adventures of faith, duty, romance, comedy, and mystery, with varying genres never before seen on any other Star Trek — including a murder mystery, a rom-com, and a documentary-style episode.
You can see snippets where the Enterprise crew appear in what seems like a 1950’s sci-fi serial, an unexpected morning-after romantic moment between Spock (Ethan Peck) and Chapel (Jess Bush), the crew gathering for supper in Captain Pike’s (Anson Mount) kitchen, and Pelia (Carol Kane) tackling an analog engineering challenge by running telephone wires through the ship — thanks to her Lanthanite collection of old-school telephones, no doubt.

There also seem to be raging Klingon zombies (??), a resolution to the “Hegemony” cliffhanger involving the Gorn, and what seems to be a 1970’s-era holodeck murder-mystery involving the entire crew.
Regarding that holodeck — remember, the Enterprise had a holographic rec room in the Animated Series, so the technology definitely exists around the Strange New Worlds era… but hopefully the one seen here is off-ship someplace, either on Starbase 1 or at another location.

Martin Quinn joins the Enterprise full-time as Montgomery Scott in Season 3, and we also get a first look guest stars Rhys Dharby (who is dressed suspiciously like Trelane), and Patton Oswalt arrives aboard the Enterprise wearing Vulcan ears.

The fancy gala appears to celebrated the centennial celebration of the United Federation of Planets — setting this season in 2261 — and the party’s bartender looks like a three-armed Edosian, a species who was only previously seen in the Star Trek animated series.

Hopefully Paramount+ will finally get around to telling us when Season 3 will be hitting our screens sometime soon, as the show has already begun active production on Season 4 — and you can be sure that we’ll share that scheduling news here at TrekCore the moment it is announced.
Season 3 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds stars Anson Mount (Pike), Rebecca Romijn (Number One), Ethan Peck (Spock), Jess Bush (Chapel), Christina Chong (La’an), Celia Rose Gooding (Uhura), Melissa Navia (Ortegas), Babs Olusanmokun (M’Benga) and Martin Quinn (Scotty), along with guest stars Carol Kane (Pelia), Rhys Darby, Melanie Scrofano (Batel), Patton Oswalt, Cillian O’Sullivan (Roger Korby), and Paul Wesley (Kirk).
