We’re back from our summer holiday, and there’s been plenty of news while we’ve been soaking up the sun — for another year, the collective Star Trek Universe has been nominated for a number of Saturn Awards for its recent television adventures.

Since 1972, the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films have been honor the the best actors and productions in genre works with the Saturn Award — past acting winners include William Shatner, Kate Mulgrew, Jeri Ryan, Jolene Blalock; production winners include Star Trek VI, Star Trek: The Next Generation (twice!), and the Next Generation Blu-ray remastered releases. In recent years, Star Trek: Discovery has also earned awards for both its cast and production teams.

For 2022’s nominations, Star Trek: Lower Decks has been named in the Best Animated Series category, up against shows like Marvel’s What If? and Netflix’s Arcane.

Both Star Trek: Discovery and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds have been included in the Best Science Fiction Series (Streaming) category, going head-to-head with each other as well as with heavy-hitting shows like Amazon’s The Expanse and Apple’s For All Mankind.

The starring cast of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has also earned their time in the Saturn Awards spotlight this year, with Anson Mount (Christopher Pike), Ethan Peck (Spock), and Jess Bush (Nurse Christine Chapel) each nominated for their performances in the series’ debut season.

The 50th Annual Saturn Award winners will be named in a ceremony scheduled for October 25.
