FanSets Continues STAR TREK Badge Line with DISCOVERY Command Delta

Our friends over at FanSets kicked off their line of full-size Star Trek series uniform insignia badges back in May with the first available Star Trek: Picard-era Starfleet emblem, and today the second entry in this new lineup: the command delta worn in Star Trek: Discovery.

Measuring just over 2.5″ tall and designed using the original screen-worn badges as reference, the Star Trek: Discovery delta pin features the same split-line design seen in the show, along with the iconic 23rd century command star symbol in its center.

Per the company’s description of this new pin:

This pin comes to you directly from the Star Trek Discovery series. It is full size at 2 ¾” tall. While manufactured with FanSets normal attention to detail this was not created to be a cos-play piece and is a pin, not a magnet. The pin has two posts/clutches to hold it securely in place. This pin is not a prop replica.

Unlike some of the more basic ‘flat’ pins that FanSets has issued in the past — like the Discovery Terran Empire badges back in 2018 — this is a fully three-dimensional build that carries the same curves and detailing as the badge worn by the show’s cast, and the solid construction means it’s certainly got some heft to it.

This pin-backed release isn’t the first Discovery command delta that’s made its way to the collectible market, of course; back in 2017, QMx issued their own wave of Discovery-era magnetic badges. While nearly identical in dimensions, the QMx version is a noticably more “yellow” shade of gold metal compared to the “softer” gold of FanSets’ design.

It’s been three years since QMx’s Discovery badges arrived, and despite multiple announcements of additional products — like the no-show Terran Empire and Discovery-era Enterprise deltas — but there’s been no sign of additional badges actually making its way to market from that company, and compete silence around Star Trek: Picard possibilities.

With that disappointment in mind, we’re happy to share that this month’s new release is just the beginning of their soon-to-expand Star Trek badge collection, as there are at minimum three more planned for the next few months — with more on the way coming down the road.

August will see the next Discovery-era design, as the black-and-silver Section 31 badge will become the third entry in the FanSets Star Trek delta line-up…

…and September will bring the inspiration for the Picard Starfleet delta, the original split-back “All Good Things…” future timeline Starfleet badge, which also appeared in Deep Space Nine’s “The Visitor,” and in Voyager’s “Timeless” and “Endgame.”

Originally planned for this summer, the company has shifted plans for the DS9/VOY-era Starfleet badge to a release date later in the year as the product continues to go through manufacturing refinement.

The new Star Trek: Discovery command delta pin is now available at FanSets web shop for $17.95.
