After After Trek concluded its one-season run as a Star Trek: Discovery after-show in 2018, the format shifted to Facebook Live where a weekly live-stream for Discovery’s second-season episodes called The Ready Room — hosted by Naomi Kyle — ran the following day.

Now, with the return of Jean-Luc Picard comes another familiar face as The Ready Room gets remodeled for the launch of Star Trek: Picard.

Announced by CBS on Sunday afternoon, Star Trek: The Next Generation veteran (and Star Trek: Nemesis guest star) Wil Wheaton will take over the weekly behind-the-scenes series, set to air Thursdays after each new episode of Star Trek: Picard.

Wheaton took to Facebook to post more details about his involvement in the show:

The once-acting-ensign also commented on Reddit about the show’s planned availability, with expectations that the streaming program will be distributed across many different digital platforms:

They’re putting it on every platform, as far as I know, including Facebook, YouTube, IGTV, etc.

I’m excited that CBS is doing that, because it respects the realities of media consumption in 2020, and makes it dead simple for everyone to watch it where they want.

The first episode of Star Trek: Picard debuts on January 23, with Wil Wheaton’s initial installment of The Ready Room expected to follow the same evening.
