STAR TREK: DISCOVERY Season 2 Set for January 2019

We’re narrowing in on the return of Star Trek: Discovery for a second year, as the series prepares to kick off its run of Short Treks minisodes this Thursday ahead of the return to New York Comic Con this weekend — and now we know when to expect Season 2 to arrive.

With a new poster released today by CBS Television Studios, we can now mark our calendars for a January 2019 return of Discovery, shortly after the final Harry Mudd-centric Short Trek debuts on January 3.

The poster centers around the mysterious red pulses that Captain Pike (Anson Mount) describes to the Discovery crew in the San Diego Comic Con teaser trailer released back in the summer, something that will connect to Lieutenant Spock (Ethan Peck) and a mysterious alien storyline that will span the season.

We’re likely to learn a lot more about Discovery Season 2 at this Saturday’s New York Comic Con panel, and probably even see a new trailer or additional footage from the upcoming season.

TrekCore will be on site at NYCC for the Star Trek: Discovery event, which Entertainment Weekly reports will be moderated by Rebecca Romjin (Number One), so be sure to follow our Twitter feed all weekend for the latest news as it breaks, and watch for our recap after the panel.
