At last week’s Las Vegas Star Trek convention, longtime Trek costume and prop replica licensee ANOVOS revealed to fans its next wave of planned products — and the centerpiece of their booth was the first official Deep Space Nine baseball jerseys, from the 1998 fan-favorite episode “Take Me Out to the Holosuite.”
The costume company featured a pair of button-down “Niners” jerseys — a male cut based upon Ben Sisko, and a female cut based upon Kira Nerys — as early prototypes for fans to view. While the displayed prototypes featured printed coloring and graphics, the final version of the baseball shirts will include fully-embroidered lettering, patches, and other details for a more authentic appearance.
ANOVOS shared with us a look at some of their embroidered samples, as seen in the gallery below. The jerseys are available for preorder now at ANOVOS’ web store (male cut and female cut) for $150 each, and are projected to ship before the end of 2018.
On display as well were a pair of “Niners” accessories: the official team baseball cap, complete with “Niners” logo and Starfleet delta, and an official “Planetary Baseball League” game ball for competition in the intergalactic league.
The game ball is somewhat different from the screen-used baseball prop, which featured a smaller Starfleet delta (minus the commbadge ‘bars’), and of course did not include either an ANOVOS or “DS9 25” logo.
A representative from the company told us ANOVOS is exploring a possible proper “Niners” team ball prop replica — complete with player autographs — but at present the more consumer-friendly baseball is the only product set for market.
The “Niners” ball cap is set to arrive this year and is available for preorder for $50, while the “Planetary Baseball League” baseball can be ordered for $25.
In addition to their baseball gear, ANOVOS also had on display a few additional upcoming products, ranging from the Original Series to the latest from Star Trek: Discovery.
First was a previously-unannounced classic Star Trek-era landing party belt, featuring a holster for the Original Series phaser. This wraparound costume uniform accessory is not yet available on the ANOVOS web shop, but preordered to fans on-site for $75.
We also got a good hands-on look at the upcoming Star Trek: Discovery phaser rifle prop replica which was announced back in June; this rifle recreation features several built-in lighting elements, expandable stock, and a “live” targeting display inside the sight assembly (thanks to a tiny display built into the replica).

They also had on display their $9,000 “studio-scale” model of the Discovery-era USS Enterprise, an impressive sight even behind glass. The model is still a prototype under development, but the company reports they are already into a third wave of preorders for the pricey starship replica.
Finally, added to their booth on the third day of the convention, ANOVOS rolled out a first look at their in-development Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan away jacket, one of the most complicated costumes from the movie era of the franchise.
Worn by Kirk, McCoy, and Saavik as they explored the Regula One station and the Genesis Cave below, the jacket featured at STLV was an extremely early protoype still missing certain elements of the final design (including the ‘solar system’ patch which famously adorns the left shoulder). ANOVOS told us that the complicated nature of the jacket requires a long development time, even requiring new tooling to recreate of some of the metal elements in the costume.
Preorders are not yet available online for this jacket, but are expected to begin at approximately $1,500 when the product goes live — and first delivery is tentatively projected for late 2019.
