ToyFair 2018 kicked off today in New York City, where companies from around the world come to show off their new games, toys, and collectibles to retailers large and small — and our team is on site checking out all that’s new in Star Trek merchandise for the year to come!

We start today with the booth from QMx, the prop replica company that first revealed their Star Trek: Discovery Starfleet insignia badges last summer at San Diego Comic Con. We’ve been waiting since the new series debuted to see if they would follow up that first wave of magnetic pins with any more from the series, and today we can confirm that their next round of badges is right around the corner!

First up is the bronze Starfleet Academy badge worn by Cadet Sylvia Tilly throughout the first season of Discovery, backed in black and featuring four stripes to signify her final year at the Academy.

The Discovery cadet badge will arrive in the operations variant only, matching the one worn by Tilly until her commission to ensign was issued in “Will You Take My Hand?.” While the image above is a QMx prototype, the final design is in production now and is projected to arrive in April 2018 at a $14.95 price point.

Secondly, the mysterious black Starfleet badges seen in “Context is for Kings” is on the way for April 2018 as well, with a glossy black finish in the large section of the delta, and a mirror finish on the smaller division.

These badges are listed as simply “Magnetic Black Badge” at QMx’s display, so there’s no answers here as to what they signify in Discovery‘s Starfleet service — even the QMx representative we spoke with said CBS wasn’t sharing! Perhaps we’ll find out more about these unique badges when the series returns next year; until then, the black deltas will retail at $14.95.

The third new badge on display was the classic insignia of the Klingon Empire, newly rendered for Star Trek: Discovery.

The traditional trefoil design of the Klingon Empire is rendered in this new magnetic badge in a brushed silver coloring, with a glossy blood-red backing, and are sure to bring honor to your house if you add it to your collection.

Also set to retail at $14.95, the Klingon badge will be arriving for sale in May 2018.

Stay tuned to TrekCore all weekend for the latest Trek news out of ToyFair 2018!
