As another week comes to a close, we’ve another collection of Trek news updates from around the galaxy – and around the world!

Star Trek: Discovery producer Alex Kurtzman spent some time talking to Collider’s Adam Chitwood about his new film The Mummy this week, and naturally the conversation dipped into Discovery, currently in mid-Episode 5 production up in Toronto.

In addition to some comments on former showrunner Bryan Fuller’s departure, he also spoke about the diversity of the show’s writers room and the desire for some more famous Trek fans to find a way to beam aboard the new series:

All I’m gonna say now is that you’re talking about a show that’s being written by a roomful of fans who all have very different relationships to Trek, and I think that’s a healthy thing and it’s a good thing. They love different aspects of Trek. We’re really excited with how the scripts are going; the scripts are going great.

So many actors are fans. We literally got a list of them that were like, ‘Here are people who said they want to be on Star Trek’. It was awesome… To just be in an episode or come in or out.

You can check out more of Kurtzman’s comments at Collider.

Modiphius Entertainment, the publisher of the forthcoming Star Trek Adventures role-playing game that we’ve been talking about for the last several months, has finally launched preorders for a number of products related to the game this week!

That means we can now attach a price tag to that Borg Cube collectors edition that TrekCore reported on last week. For the entire deluxe Cube set — which includes miniature figures, themed dice, rulebooks, and more — the collection will run you $503. For there’s also a “Drone Bundle” version of the Cube set, with just the basic gameplay materials, for $319.

For those looking to spend a bit less, the preorder also lists each of the individual products. The core rulebook, listed at $58.99 or $77.99 for a special edition printing, ships in August, around the time of Gen Con, the tabletop gaming industry’s premier convention. But those who preorder the book may receive a PDF version sooner than that.

The preorder also includes a book of adventure scenarios, a gamemaster’s screen, miniatures and a set of deck tiles for miniatures combat.
