We just got back from the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C., where the classic USS Enterprise filming model has been returned after nearly two years away for a massive renovation project (as we’ve reported since early 2014).

Here’s the first of our latest round of video interviews with the renovation team, as chief conservator Malcolm Collum tells us all about the new nacelle lighting array, keeping the Enterprise moving at warp speed.

Stay tuned for a whole lot more, including high-resolution photos of the completed model, and additional interviews on the starship’s new home!
