Paramount Home Entertainment’s first steps in to next generation of home media formats begins this Tuesday, as STAR TREK and STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS arrive on 4K UHD Blu-ray.
We’re giving away a the pair of ultra-high definition releases over here, but for those of you curious about the packaging, here are some photos of the new combo sets for your viewing pleasure.
They’re very similar in design to the multitude of Blu-ray sets released over the past few years, with no new artwork or layouts (aside from the various 4K labels).

The standard Blu-ray discs included in this set are identical to those found in 2014’s STAR TREK: THE COMPENDIUM collection, with disc art to match. You can check out the full list of features included in our review of that release. The 4K disc of INTO DARKNESS also includes the IMAX shifting aspect ratio presentation of the regular Blu-ray set.
Finally, in regards to a feature review with screencap galleries from these new 4K releases: at present, there is no way to capture images from UHD discs, as compared to the various methods available for DVD and Blu-ray discs – and until there’s a practical method available, they won’t be something we’ll be able to feature here.
UPDATE: Check out our Trek ’09 and Star Trek Into Darkness 4K UHD screencap galleries!
