As we reported late last week, the production team is back at work for additional STAR TREK BEYOND filming, and today both actor Joe Taslim and Uhura actress Zoe Saldana returned to the set in Los Angeles for some more time in front of the cameras.
Like with Zachary Quinto, Simon Pegg, and the other cast we’ve seen over the past nine months of filming, Saldana is also sporting one of the new uniforms worn by the Enterprise crew – and as we reported back in the fall, the lieutenant has a rank braid back on her sleeve.

We’ve known about the rank braid returning to the female uniform design – something long wished for by fans – since the Dubai shoots back in October, where local photography was able to detail the wrist stripe.
Like the men of the Enterprise, the new ladies’ uniform also sports the higher collar and extended sleeves, with cuffs as well. From the BEYOND trailer, we can also see the expert tailoring needed to create the form-fitting look.
