It looks like incoming Star Trek 3 director Justin Lin is bringing along some familiar teammates to the upcoming sequel film, drawing from his well-tested Fast and Furious production partners.
Sanja Hays, costume designer on all seven Fast and Furious films — along with 1998’s Star Trek: Insurrection — is replacing Michael Kaplan, lead costumer on 2009’s Star Trek and 2013’s Star Trek Into Darkness. This information was revealed by Innovative Artists, the designer’s agency, where Trek 3 has been added to the top of her resume.
Cinematographer Stephen F. Windon is also joining Lin on Trek 3, replacing the previous two films’ Dan Mindel (who, along with Kaplan, followed J.J. Abrams to Star Wars Episode VII). Windon’s previous credits include 1998’s The Patriot, HBO’s The Pacific miniseries, and four of the seven Fast and Furious films; his involvement in the new film was announced by his agency, Worldwide Production Agency.
Tron: Legacy and Life of Pi cinematographer Claudio Miranda was initially announced to be taking over photography duties back in October when Bob Orci was still set to helm Star Trek 3, but with Orci moving on from the sequel, it seems Miranda has also been released to other projects as well.
