STAR TREK: DISCOVERY Returns to New York Comic Con

Following a summer of Star Trek revelations, the franchise heads into fall by returning to the site of one of last year’s biggest days for Star Trek: Discovery — New York Comic Con!

After six months of big announcements — ranging from the casting of actors Anson Mount, Rebecca Romijn, and Ethan Peck as the newest incarnations of Captain Pike, Number One, and Spock, to Alex Kurtzman’s massive expansion as the head of all things Trek for CBS, to the plans for a series of short Discovery films, to the reveal of Patrick Stewart’s return to the franchise as Jean-Luc Picard — the franchise closes out the summer tour in the Big Apple, just a short plane trip from ‘home base’ in Toronto.

Returning to the same venue as last year’s NYCC eventStar Trek: Discovery’s cast and producing team will hit the stage at the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, October 6 at 4PM ET.

While specific series participants have not yet been named, we expect all of the main crew — Doug Jones, Anthony Rapp, Mary Chieffo, Shazad Latif, Mary Wiseman, Wilson Cruz, and Anson Mount — to join series lead Sonequa Martin-Green and newly-minted Vulcan Ethan Peck, both named as attendees by Deadline today.

The reveal in Deadline also hinted at possible surprise appearances from yet-unnamed parties, which (in our speculation!) could include actors Michelle Yeoh (Georgiou), Rebecca Romijn in a first Trek event appearance, or Aldis Hodge from his upcoming Short Trek film — or something grander.

The group plans to talk not only about the upcoming second season but the legacy and expansion of the Gene Roddenberry created franchise on CBS All Access,” says the Deadline report, which might also be another stage appearance from Patrick Stewart after the big surprise appearance at last month’s STLV convention (and his in-development showrunning partners Kirsten Beyer and Michael Chabon), or even more new Trek project announcements stemming from the rumors back in June.

Either way, you can be sure that the TrekCore team will be on site for any and all announcements that may come out of Discovery’s return to New York Comic Con — to be sure to follow us on Twitter for minute-by-minute live updates on October 6, and of course we’ll be sure to bring you a full recap here on the main site as well.
