Two weeks ago, the cast and crew of STAR TREK BEYOND completed five days of additional photography at Manhattan Beach Studios south of Los Angeles, and we brought you a few photos from that period of reshoots featuring Chris Pine and Justin Lin taking care of business on set.
Now that the additional filming is completed, we thought that’d be it from the BEYOND set… but one last view of the sci-fi shooting stage has emerged, as a video from Instagram user hollywooodhope, a security guard working at the MBS facility.
The Instagram post and video has been deleted by the uploader.
At first glance, it may not seem like there’s much there in the soundstage teardown aside from a bit of Enterprise corridor in the background, but amidst the pile of greenscreen equipment and plywood, there’s one bit of info we could discern:
Half-hidden under that tarp is a Starfleet escape pod from the Enterprise, as featured in the BEYOND trailer!
The orange-tipped rhombus which carries the Enterprise crew down to the alien planet has been spotted several times so far, with both Kirk and Sulu escaping the ship inside one, Chekov already landed, and an alien Starfleet crewmember emerging after touchdown.
While we can’t know the full details of the extra photography from this one photo alone, it seems likely that the descent from the Enterprise is one of the featured sequences that needed a few extra touches this month.
